In the music world we have had the pleasure of many identical twins who have shared their combined talents to entertain us. Artists like The Proclaimers Charlie and Craig Reid, known for their hit "I"m Gonna Be (500 Miles) ", Canadians Tegan and Sara who gained fame in the indie pop scene with multiple award-winning albums, and The Veronicas, Australians Lisa and Jessica Origliasso known for their pop-rock hits. In Brooklyn, NY identical twins Ruby and Sasha have begun to emerge as up and comers.
Both ladies were first touched by the music bug singing in choirs and penning their own lyrics. When they finally settled in the same city is when they began writing and singing as a duo. They were raised with the sounds of Joni Mitchell, Cat Stevens, Simon & Garfunkel, and Sufjan Stevens. Presently they have been inspired by The Staves, Waxahatchee, Samia, Boygenius, and many more.

Their current track "Hay Fever" is the second release due to
be a part of a debut EP. The single is inspired by the common allergy
that affects many around this time of the year. During this season it
is normally uplifting but "Hay Fever" touches upon a different kind
of feeling seeing the beauty but not so attainable as one may think.
The desire to capture the vibrance and energetic feeling normally
attributed to this season, yet a sense of absence is present. The
guitar solo is a build up to what is to become a ride of discovery
and understanding of how to attain the happiness one searches for.
"Our hope is that people connect to the
lyrics in whatever way feels true to them. The song was born out
of the feeling of isolation that can come once winter has passed
and everyone seems to be outside enjoying their lives while the
world is suddenly full of beauty. Seeing all of that around you
when you're feeling unhappy or depressed can be incredibly lonely,
so I hope the song gives other people going through that something
to connect with. I don"t think I was consciously trying to write
about spirituality, but I do think the song is about searching for
relief from something that feels bigger than you. In that sense,
I think yearning for an elusive kind of magic or spirituality is
a beautiful way of describing the desire to feel aligned with the
world again. So, I love that interpretation."
The new EP which includes "Hay Fever" is due to drop in
September. Ruby and Sasha have been performing around the New York
area for some time and recently took the stage at Pete's Candy Store
on August 7th. These identical twins plan on making a serious splash
on the music scene so keep your eyes peeled.
